Any
working household sewing machine will do nicely.
Heavy-duty industrial models are not necessary.
Needles
The
same needle you use for normal sewing is probably
suitable for the lighter hammock fabrics. The
heavier fabrics used in the sturdier hammocks
however, may require stronger needles; some suggested
needles are given later in this websection. Don't
worry however, about having the perfect needle.
If the needle breaks, it's the wrong one; try
a stronger one.
Check
your sewing basket, since many people already
have a variety of needles to choose from. If necessary,
consult the manual for your machine and buy a
stronger one, or a variety pack, at the nearest
sewing center or fabric store and resume sewing.
Needles
can also be mail-ordered from the suppliers listed
in this websection.Although thick, the polypropylene
straps do not require extra strong needles when
being sewed since they are not dense; just be
careful when making reinforced stitches since
the density does increase with each new stitch
and you can easily exceed the needle-breaking
point.Sharp needles work best, so you may want
to start with a new one.
