Fetal
Position Sleepers
There's also good news for fetal-position sleepers.
Like most people, I, too, enjoy sleeping on my
side with my knees pulled up. The hammock immediately
adjusts to this new position and my body rests
on a slight uniform incline from my butt to my
head.
The
incline is comfortable and conducive to sleep;
many doctors recommend just such a remedy for
acid reflux sufferers (like I am). In this fetal
sleeping position, my body is essentially occupying
only half of the hammock length, from the low
sag point to my head. Obviously, a hammock too
short to allow this half-hammock position would
be inappropriate for all night use.
Sleeping on my belly is the only position I've
found that is not comfortable in my hammock; however,
some people report no problem. A more suitable
hammock for the belly sleeper can probably be
made, although I've never tried. It would most
likely need to be considerably longer (or wider?)
than my design.
