Our Hammocks provide the maximum relaxation,so let the fine swinging motion and everlasting floating midair begin
What
About Wind?
Contrary
to popular belief, wind does not cause much swinging
of the hammock, at least not nearly enough to
suit me! This is unfortunate because gentle swaying
in the air is especially soothing and conducive
to relaxing! Rocking in my hammock is a much-anticipated
joy at the end of a long day. What's good for
the baby in the cradle is good for the tired camper
in the hammock!
I'm not talking about using the hammock like a
yard swing; it is not designed for such vigorous
swinging and doing so is dangerous and could cause
serious injury should something give way (and
it probably will). However, gentle swaying should
be safe. I generally position my hiking pole within
easy reach so I can grab it and gently rock myself;
nothing else solicits more attention, or more
snickers, from my fellow campers! But what do
I care-I'm soon sleeping like a baby!
Of course, hiding from cold wind is one of the
greatest advantages of using a hammock in the
first place. Generally I avoid as much wind as
I can by setting up behind ridge crests or rock
cliffs. See more about hiding from the wind in
, "How To Stay Warm.'
