Joy and Comfort of Hammock Camping
Are
hammocks really comfortable? As hard as it may
be to believe, comfort is my number one reason
for carrying a hammock. Most people agree that
my hammock is far more comfortable than any bed
they've ever had on the ground!
Of
course, the correct answer to the above question
is: "Some are, some aren't." I've found
that a hammock's comfort is dependent on: 1) the
design, meaning its shape, size and fabric; and
2) how it is pitched.

Many People Doubt Comfor!
Most
people are rightly doubtful of hammock comfort
Criven their experience; the problem lies in the
hammocks they have tried.
At
least in the US, we have been overly exposed to
poorly designed commercial hammocks, such as some
of the universal string net hammocks with or ~xithout
spreader bars. Almost everyone has tried and rejected
them. Certainly many excellent net hammocks
are available. However, most adventure travelers
have limited their trials to poorly made ones,
with the expected poor results.
