Rain
Canopy Guidelines
The
cord chosen for the guidelines on the rain canopy
is critical since the wrong cord can cause major
headaches and can even be dangerous. Most lightweight
limp cords are unsuitable; they will tangle unmercifully
in brush, weeds, grasses and tree limbs. Limp
cord even tangles badly with itself.
There
are 60 feet of guidelines on my tarp; these long
lengths are needed to allow the tarp to be pitched
over the hanging hammock or on the ground. Imagine
spending ten minutes or more untangling these
lines every time you set up the trap. It can take
more time than setting up the tarp and hammock
in the first place. Nothing is more frustrating
than having to untangle lines in the rain or cold
weather.
Using
a stiff cord, such as the solid-core, nylon-sheath
cord recommended "How To Make Your Own Hammock,"
can greatly reduce tangle problems.
New
Freedom
The
newfound freedom of the hammock camper is mesmerizing
and the list of suitable stealth campsites in
the wilderness is long and exciting. The possible
wilderness sites tempting the hammock camper are
endless. But with your new freedom comes new-responsibilities
